The Girl
My name is Samantha. I am a twenty-something aspiring musical theatre performer who has recently relocated to the greater Chicagoland area. My weight has held me back for years, keeping me from being truely successful in the things I care about most. Now that I'm in a new city, living a new life ... enough is enough! Time to finally finish what I've started.

Sickness Had Other Plans
Wednesday, March 21, 2012
My plans for this week according to my last post are not exactly coming to fruition. After the weekend's festivities (St. Patrick's day Saturday and a party on our roof Sunday) I have come down with a cold. Nothing major, but enough to make me leave work two hours early Monday and not come in at all yesterday. I have a feeling I will be going home early today as well, but I'm going to try to stick it out at least until everyone is back from lunch.
As I said, Monday I started feeling awful about an hour or so after I got to work. Everyone was getting together in the kitchen to have bagels to celebrate the March birthdays, but I used my sickness as an excuse to stay out of the kitchen and avoid the temptation of the bagels. About an hour or two after everyone returned to their desks I started feeling very light headed and I knew I needed something with more sustenance than a Medifast meal. So I crept into the kitchen, covered a bagel with cream cheese, and came back to my desk to cower in my failure. I went to take a bite, and in one fluid motion I threw the bagel into the garbage. I grabbed my glass of water and chugged it, hoping this would be enough. Well, it wasn't. Although I was proud of myself for tossing the bagel, I caved. I went back to the kitchen, got another bagel, and this one I ate. Then I ate another about two hours later. I left work early and when I got home I had a bowl of potato salad that was leftover from our roof party on Sunday. I didn't care. I felt weak and dizzy and I needed FOOD - and I was in NO position to cook. I went into my room, shut the door, and slept for the remainder of the night. Yesterday I was able to get back on track: pancakes for breakfast, bar for mid-morning snack, broccoli soup grilled cheese for lunch, brownie for mid-afternoon snack, BBQ chicken breast and broccoli for dinner, and a soft bake for dessert. I didn't drink a whole ton of water, mainly because the only moments I was conscious was to eat and go to the bathroom.
Today I am down to 162.0 - I'm hoping the drop isn't just water weight and therefore I'll have another increase tomorrow. My plans as listed in my last post will have to wait until next week, as I am way too tired and out of it to put a lot of effort into cooking or going to the gym. I'm going to be VERY basic with my Lean and Greens the rest of the week, and hopefully by the weekend I'll be ready to start next week with my seven additions. For now, probably time for me to try and slip out of here, or at least make it known that I want to leave after everyone is back from lunch. It's definitely nap time.
